Joomla SEO

I have been wondering lately if the per article meta tags in Joomla is that effective. I started putting those tags last week and am currently waiting for the search engines to refresh the index and see if could get indexed by the defined meta tags.

Though articles in my websites (LancasterSuites, PLC Global, Sico Properties) are not that extensive in terms of topics, those could still be used to target sets of key words or phrases which could enhance SERPs.

Virus Map – Joomla Component

I was looking for new extension one day and found something that can’t be considered a necessity for a website, but I liked it anyway maybe because of my background as a network administrator and part of the job was securing the entire network.

The component I’m talking about is the Virus Map (click on the link to see it, though you need Java installed on your machine) developed by Components Lab, Lda.. At the onset, it shows a world map and then at the right side a list of the most common viruses in the world. On mouse over to a certain portion of the map, it shows the list for that particular region. Well, there are a lot more features, so why not see it for yourself then?

Mamblog – The Joomla Blog

I have finished testing Mamblog offline, just on my local computer running XAMPP and Joomla! 1.0.12. The component works just fine, other than the automatic ping which is not provided, so I have to ping to web directories everytime I post a new blog.

Does anybody know of a Joomla component that does this thing? Do you know a plug-in that pings the new blogs/articles to the directories? Don’t hesitate to leave a comment if you happen to know one… 😉
